We've heard much too often that "less is more", but how many of us acknowledge the truth in this phrase which has been taken too lightly? In a society that is always aiming to grasp our attention by offering more, where can we break through the complications and indulge in the power of simplicity? Simplicity is an art that begins within self. As I've discovered so far, less truly is more, and there is a powerful force that heals our frustrations once we surrender to the power of simplicity. What does that entail? Read on for six tips (and reasons) to simplify your life on your holistic self care journey.

Purge Your Surroundings.

Believe it or not, our external atmosphere has plenty to do with our inner. "As within, so without" tells us that anything that happens in our outer reality first began internally. As weird as it may sound, when I need clarity or am frustrated "for no reason", I begin to clean and declutter my surroundings for help. It works!

Get Rid of the Long To-Do List...Seriously.

Who doesn't want to be productive? The truth is, we all do. We often look at productivity the wrong way. Rather than viewing productivity through the quality we've contributed to our time, we can, if we are not careful, mistakenly view it as how much time we've contributed. Productivity is not about staying busy, it is about strategically applying quality. Less is more. Unfortunately, we feel that the more complex we make things, the more value it has. Not true. Go through your to-do list and simplify tasks. What can be combined? What is unrealistic? Why are you doing certain tasks? What can help you avoid stress burnout?

Stop Spreading yourself So Thin.

The truth is, a lot of us care about someone or something. Another truth is, our care for so many things can bring a lot of stress into our lives. Many of us seek to be involved in a lot in life, simply because we are available, able, and want to remain loyal to whatever we are associated with. However, we must begin to acknowledge our boundaries and self care. I know all too well about being superwoman and spreading my self too thin. Being involved in and available to too much is a recipe for stress and frustration. Take the load off of yourself sometimes and relax.
Develop a Simple Routine That Works For You.

"I have so much to do". Is a phrase I knew all too often before I realized that I was good for creating unnecessary complexities in my own world. When we're feeling flustered and overwhelmed, it's time to take a step back and observe just what our daily routines are comprised of. Without knowing it, our daily habits can be sabotaging our efforts, wasting our time, and depleting our energy. Take note of your daily habits and routines and pick out the things that complicate your day, causes you to lose time, and sabotages your energy and productivity. From there, develop a routine that's was simple yet effective as possible and commit yourself to it.

Discover the Loads and Burdens That You've Created.

Let's be honest, a lot of the time, we complain about the things and problems that were created by no one other than ourselves. I had to laugh at myself when I discovered this personally. Where can we find our hands in the problems we've created? It's in the people we choose. It's in the projects we launch. It's in the ventures we take on. It's in the things we volunteer for. It's in the time and money we've spent. It's in the choices that we make. It's in saying "yes" to others when we know we've said "no" to ourselves. It's in trying to build up our perceived inadequacy with things. Complaining about these loads and burdens that we've ushered in will do nothing. Instead, acknowledge the issue, be honest with yourself, decide what will happen to your future if you continue on your same path, and decide the best possible way to redirect your path and ditch your old ways (you CAN do it).

Realize That You Are Enough.

We were all created whole. When we were created, we were already enough as is. Surely, that's hard enough to believe when there are so many things in society that distort your analysis of your own self worth. It's also hard to believe when society tells you that your intelligence and importance, depends on how many degrees you have, or that your appeal is reflected in the number of "likes" you have on social media. Let go of the distortions. Once you begin to go back and sift through the illusions, you can comfortably find your value. Think of the unique traits your were born with, your interests, your passions, your divinity, and your divine missions. Do this daily to remind yourself that you are indeed enough.
