In a wide world of diversity, everyone has their own definition of beauty, and their own opinion of who is beautiful, and rightfully so. It is no secret that many people struggle with the realization or acceptance of their own beauty due to popular ideals, societal expectation, and experience. Because of this struggle, many of us delve into a variety of things in search of our beauty. However, what truly is the standard of beauty? What makes us beautiful? Who is considered beautiful? I revealed my opinion about the standard of beauty, (you can read it here), which promoted natural beauty and why I believe it to be the truest form of beauty. The ideals presented in that article are views that I stand firmly by.
The kind of beauty I want most is the hard-to-get kind that comes from within - strength, courage, dignity. -Ruby Dee
As a writer, I only aim to promote what I believe is truthful, and valuable to my audience. This is a major reason why I do not endorse makeup via my blogs. Is makeup an interesting, popular, and valuable subject? It certainly is. Do I wear makeup? Yes, slightly, from time to time, and on certain occasions. As women, many of us use makeup to enhance our natural beauty, cover blemishes, or achieve a certain look that we aim for. These reasons are all great reasons to use makeup, however, many depend on makeup to fill any voids in the belief that they are beautiful. I view beauty to be a radiance that develops on the inside, and as a result, shines through on the outside. We arrive at such a radiance by living in optimal mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional health daily, and that is what I strive for. Because optimal mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional health is my idea of a great and fulfilling life, I choose to promote it and encourage others to aim for the same. I've had my phases with beauty, self-love, and of course, makeup and still have so much to tackle when it comes to this subject, but the thing is, I feel best without makeup, and I feel that going without makeup is a healthier option for the skin and body's health. I feel more real, clean, free, beautiful, and strong and I want others to have the same feeling by delving into natural beauty practices, and all that it has to offer.
